Ferme Givskud Farm is very conscious of the many challenges affecting the environment and are working hard to improve
the environmental situation on their farms. The government imposes many norms and regulations to limit and eliminate
disease. Givskud employees follow courses on ways to apply pesticides properly. Understanding the spraying procedure
is crucial to growing good products.
Only qualified, licensed workers are allowed to handle the spray material and equipment. Safety seminars
and briefing workshops are given to the workers before planting and harvesting on the use, handling and safety of all equipment.
Employee records and personal hygiene also play an important role. An important factor that is becoming
more noticeable in the farming industry
is recycling. To promote this Givskud Farms uses recyclable potato bags.

Givskud Farms have completed their Environmental Farm Plan (EFP) and continue
to attend work shops with the New Brunswick Environmental Committee, individual producers and environmental groups to make
sure that they continue to fulfill their objectives. There are five ultimate goals which N B Agricultural producers
feel must be attained to achieve the relationship they desire between the agriculture industry and the environment.
A) Protect our natural water resources B) Preserve the land & soil to sustain
Agriculture C) Reduce the risk and provide benefits to the air environment D)
Reduce the risk and provide benefits to bio-diversity E) Improve the public's understanding oF New Brunswick's
Agriculture industry and its relation to the environment. (APANB Environmental
Strategy January 2004) This is no easy task and Givskud Farms is making every effort to satisfy and maintain
good relations with environmental groups and the consumer.
